Our Adoption Journey

Meeting Our Kids ❤️

Joy. Pure joy. Joy, excitement, and a dash of “Oh, I hope they like me” filled me on December 22nd.

That was the day we met our children for the very first time.

We were over the moon, and it was perfect timing because we were able to meet our children for the very first time the week of Christmas. Their excitement, combined with ours, was such a beautiful thing to be able to experience in that moment. We all talked for almost 2 hours, and there was no fear, awkwardness, concern or anything negative in those moments.

You could see that the Lord had brought us together, and you could just feel the way that we were all so excited to be there. Now, there will certainly be a time where we feel each other out. There will be a time when we learn each other, how we function as a family, and what it means to be the Javier family.

But, in those moments we were just a family who was filled with excitement and couldn’t wait to meet each other. In those precious moments we were simply a family who had been praying for each other for years, and our prayers were finally answered. I knew Miguel and I had been praying for our children for years, and we knew the Lord was in control the entire time. There were and still are some days that this process feels like 1000 years (especially for me), but the Lord is always gracious, and He always sustains us.

I had never thought that when we met our children I would hear “I prayed for you too”. I asked God if he would let me make it through the entire call before I started tearing up, and He did. As soon as we left the meeting, I just started crying. This is the moment I’ve prayed for as long as I can remember.

Since then, we Skype every Friday with our kids. It’s our favorite time of the week, and we enjoy it so much. Technology is such a gift from the Lord and enables us to grow closer as a family even though we’re miles away from each other.

We just want to take a moment and thank you all for the way that you have been praying for us and pouring into our lives during this time. We cannot tell you what it means to us to have such an incredible support system. As Pastor Hopper says adopting families need rope holders, we definitely  have some incredible rope folders.

So as a little bit of an update in our hearts, we just wanted to share where we’re at and how wonderful it was to get to meet our children and now to get to talk to them every week. If you need us on Fridays, we won’t be available. At least not until they come home. 😉

Jesus saved my soul. Our journey as a family is an adventure.
