Saturday Family Outings: Farmers Markets
Saturdays are for Farmers Markets
Do you enjoy relaxed Saturday mornings? As we are enjoying the last bit of sleeping in and lazily getting out of bed on Saturday mornings before our kids come home (we’re adopting!), we are loving taking advantage of our local farmers market. Each booth brings such delightful treats, delicious produce, or beautiful flowers. I could meander around the farmers market all day!
I love to support the local venders, cook fresh fruits and vegetables, and add to our growing number of plants. Each of these venders possesses tremendous knowledge about their products, and it’s a great experience to listen to each of them share about the process of cultivating their goods. We look forward to taking our kids to the farmers market and experiencing all the local merchants have to offer. It will be a great learning experience for them, as well as a great family outing for all of us.
To add to our plant collection today, we returned home with a Venus Fly Trap. How exciting! Although this plant is not similar to our other plants (herbs and fruit plants), we are eager to watch it work. With three dogs, our door is open often, so we will find out if this lovely plant will assist in dealing with the bugs that enter while our dogs waddle in and out of the door unconcerned about insects joining them inside. If we had not spent time this morning wandering around the farmers market, we would not have thought to purchase a Venus Fly Trap!
Reasons to visit your local Farmers Market:
interacting with many experts in a variety of agricultural fields
bringing home fresh produce for snacks and meals
indulging in the local farm’s homemade ice cream
enjoying time outdoors
These experiences are all reasons we look forward to bringing our kids here! What do you like about the farmers market?
